Fitness, exercise and nutrition programs are generally rooted in this insane need to look lean, sexy and muscular. Those are very desirable physical traits that society has told us we need to pursue - after all, we all want to look good nak3d, don't we?
We're here to tell you not to get caught up in the need to look a certain way...or to put it more aptly, to train to look a certain way. Your training, at least the majority of it, should be geared toward helping your body to FUNCTION and PERFORM better, hopefully near its peak ability to do so.
By training to function and perform better, you are going to also make gradual improvements in muscle mass and body composition. So, don't fret, those gains will come, in time. But more importantly, you will move better, feel better and be better prepared to handle any of the MANY obstacles and challenges life can and most likely will, throw at you. Make sure those muscles actually do something!
